Surviving Linguistic Terrorism: Critical Testimonios Towards Reclaiming our Rich Linguistic Assets as Spanish Bilingual Latine Scholars

Thu, December 4, 1:15 to 2:45pm, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Sunset 2

Abstract

This paper amplifies the voices of four undergraduate students in their journeys to (re)learn, (re)frame, and (re)claim their lived experiences as Spanish-speaking bilingual Latine scholars. This paper is an organic result of burgeoning Latine scholars learning about the universality of linguistic inequities. Through critical testimonies, they bring our stories to the forefront and show how White Hegemony has tangible implications for the Students of Color that are subjected to it.
