Wed, December 3, 3:00 to 4:30pm, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Sunset 2

Abstract

This study focuses on the linguistic backgrounds of Black teachers, and the ways race and language play an integral role in how they hear and leverage Black Language as a resource in the classroom. This multi-case study explores what is happening within a teacher who legitimately hears Black Language, and how their racial and linguistic background can invoke such hearing.
