The Raciolinguistic Embodiment of Black Teachers: Hearing, Affirming, and Living Black Language in Classroom Pedagogy

Abstract

This study focuses on the linguistic backgrounds of Black teachers, and the ways race and language play an integral role in how they hear and leverage Black Language as a resource in the classroom. This multi-case study explores what is happening within a teacher who legitimately hears Black Language, and how their racial and linguistic background can invoke such hearing.
