From Critical Dialogue to Antiracist Coalition: Navigating Differences and Divides Through a Duoethnographic Journey

Thu, December 4, 3:00 to 4:30pm, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Sunset 6

Abstract

Over the past several years, we have investigated our experiences navigating the differences and divides of race in academia and have examined how critical dialogue fosters antiracist practices and coalition-building. Organic conversations after George Floyd’s murder evolved into structured dialogues and faculty workshops on antiracism in academia. Using duoethnography, we document our journey from self-investigation to coalition, including our grappling and the transformative potential of self-excavation to foster civil literacies including solidarity, accountability, and action.
