Korean Mothers’ Beliefs and Perspectives on Bilingualsim and Biliteracy

Thu, December 4, 8:30 to 10:00am, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Melrose 1

Abstract

This case study examines the beliefs and perspectives of Korean mothers regarding bilingual reading with their children. It investigates how mothers perceive bilingualism, biliteracy, and the role of reading in language development. Data from surveys, interviews, observations, and video recordings find that mothers view reading as both a fun and educational activity. These findings explore how Korean mothers perceive bilingual book-reading activities and practice bilingual literacy with their children.
