This study examines language ideologies in translingual picturebooks through a multimodal critical discourse analysis of two selected texts: Dear Primo: A Letter to My Cousin and A Thousand White Butterflies. While translingual books are often seen as challenging monolingual norms, this analysis explores how they may both subvert and reinforce dominant language ideologies through textual and visual strategies.
