This study integrates liberatory pedagogy with the science of reading to enhance literacy instruction and create equitable learning environments. Drawing on Paulo Freire’s work, it explores critical consciousness, cultural relevance, and student empowerment in reading instruction. Key findings highlight the importance of culturally responsive teaching, student agency, and addressing systemic literacy barriers. The study concludes that liberatory pedagogy can transform learning environments, empowering students as critical thinkers and agents of social change.
