Exploring Multifaceted, Multimodal Contexts for Civic Literacies: From Classrooms to Teacher Education to Online Discourse

Abstract

This symposium brings together research from four research teams located in geographically-distinct areas across the U.S. to explore multimodal, speculative civic literacies. Our research brings together a variety of contexts including early childhood and elementary classrooms, online platforms and teacher professional learning communities to explore what can happen within local and global settings when people creatively act to enact, subvert and negotiate civic literacies.
