Do Citizen Oversight Agencies Lead to an Increase in Homicides of Police Officers and Violent Crime?

Brief Overview

We estimate the impact of citizen oversight agencies on homicides of police officers (HPOs) and violent crime. We find that they have no effect on the violent crime rate and that they reduce HPOs, especially if they have broad scope of authority.
