Consequences of State Support for Insurgent Groups: Endogenous power shift and commitment problem

Brief Overview

This paper uses a formal model to show that state support for rebels can cause international bargaining breakdown due to commitment problem. Such support can weaken the target and generate a rapid shift in balance of power in favor of the sponsor.
