Building an Institutional Theory of Scandinavian Civic Engagement

Brief Overview

In this paper we argue that the high level of civic engagement in Scandinavian should be explained by three concurrent institutional mechanisms: the popular movements, the enabling state institutions, and the tamed or negotiated market economies.
