Self-Image Maintenance Motivation (SIMM) and Intergroup Conflict

Brief Overview

We present a measure for a motivation not commonly discussed in political psychology—self-image maintenance motivation (SIMM)--and show that it negatively correlates with support for Muslim immigrants, refugees, and policies targeting these groups.
