Judiciary under Attack?: Populists in Government and the Independence of the Judiciary

Brief Overview

Populism glorifies popular will and dislikes any constraints. This paper asks why we observe a decline in the independence of the judiciary. I argue that populists are a threat when they are in government and have large seat share in the legislature.
