Ideologues and Redistribution: Evidence from Democracies and Dictatorships

Brief Overview

Drawing on self-collected data on the ideology of heads of government in 178 countries from 1945 to 2017, I find that leftist governments redistribute more than rightist governments across democracies and dictatorships.
