Electoral Accountability with Endogenous Information Acquisition

Brief Overview

We show that adding costly endogenous information acquisition to the voter in standard pandering setup, weakly decreases pandering. Unlike auditing models, better accountability follows from rewarding truthful behavior instead of punishing pandering.
