Failed Deals: Electoral Uncertainty in Trade Negotiations

Brief Overview

Why do trade negotiations fail? I argue that electoral uncertainty among negotiating countries may delay the negotiation process or result in the collapse of negotiations. Also, trade negotiations are less likely to conclude in an election year.
