On the Mechanisms Behind Unequal Representation in Legislatures

Brief Overview

We use a model-based simulation to analyze electoral and post-electoral mechanisms driving unequal representation in legislatures. When both mechanisms are complements, a common empirical strategy overestimates the relevance of electoral selection.
