Partisan Selectivity in Blame Attribution: Evidence from the COVID-19 Pandemic

Brief Overview

We show that identical information about COVID-19 has opposite effects on the extent to which Democrats and Republicans blame Trump for the pandemic. Among explanations, we find stronger support for Bayesian updating than for motivated reasoning.
