Herbert A. Simon Lecture: Applying Critical Race Theory to Public Administration Scholarship and Midwest Public Administration Meeting

Fri, April 16, 5:20 to 6:50pm CDT (5:20 to 6:50pm CDT), TBA

Session Submission Type: Lecture

Brief Overview

Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a framework which adopts a race-conscious approach to uncover and better understand institutional and structural racism in our society with the aim of promoting and achieving social justice. The premise of CRT is that our legal, political and economic institutions are inherently racist and that race is a socially-constructed concept which enables and justifies the ability of Whites to promote their own economic, social and political interests at the expense of people of color.
