Obfuscating Social Responsibility: Global Performance Indicators and Firms’ Compliance with Labor Norms

Brief Overview

I examine when firms improve international norms such as labor and environmental norms via supply chains. I suggest a theory of firms’ obfuscation, where firms improve only a subset of norms that would not essentially threaten their benefits.
