Finding common ground: Can shared moral convictions, attitudes, or identities mitigate intolerance?

Brief Overview

In surveys about hypothetical disagreements, we found that shared moral beliefs reduced political intolerance more consistently than shared non-moral attitudes or shared partisanship. In fact, shared partisanship had no discernible effect.

Authors
