Public Goods and the Press: Policy Implications of Disparities in Local Political News

Brief Overview

Using text analysis of U.S. newspapers, I show that local politics coverage follows race and class inequalities. Governments also spend more on popular public goods when they are covered more, exacerbating existing inequalities in American democracy.
