Us Versus Us Versus Them: Armed Conflict and Presidential Elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Brief Overview

We combine a novel dataset of three presidential elections by district with conflict data. We find that domestic conflicts are associated with less incumbent support whereas conflict with foreign actors is associated with more incumbent support.
