Fire Alarms, Bureaucratic Errors, and the Burden Tolerance of Bureaucrats

Brief Overview

Using an experiment on a survey of state-level bureaucrats, we find bureaucrats' are more willing to increase administrative burdens in response to fraud concerns than to decrease burdens when access concerns arise.
