Social Mobility, Authoritarian Regime Survival, and Transition to Democracy

Brief Overview

I argue that, on the one hand, social mobility increases the likelihood of transitions to democracy initiated by the ruling elites. On the other hand, mobility stabilizes autocracies and reduces the probability of transition triggered by outsiders.
