Unequal Land, Unequal Politics: Elite Persistence in India

Brief Overview

I examine the relationship between economic inequality and elite political persistence. Exploiting variation in colonial land tenure systems in India, I find that more unequal land tenure systems lead to greater elite domination of politics.
