The (almost) Null Effect of Presidential Speeches on Public Opinion. Evidence from Chile

Sat, April 5, 3:20 to 4:50pm CDT (3:20 to 4:50pm CDT), Palmer House Hilton, Floor: 3rd, Salon 10

Brief Overview

This paper explores the impact of presidential speeches on public opinion. Using data from Chile, I find that the influence on public perception is small. These results challenge conventional views of presidential power in shaping public opinion.
