Does Race Trump Ethnicity? A Test of the Black Immigrant Invisibility Hypothesis

Brief Overview

In this manuscript, I argue that Black immigrant politicians can use their immigrant identity strategically in campaigns. I find that for both white and Black Americans, race trumps the effects of ethnicity for Black and white Americans.
