Hegelian Bourgeois Liberalism: Fukuyama and Pippin
Thu, April 3, 5:10 to 6:40pm CDT (5:10 to 6:40pm CDT), Palmer House Hilton, Floor: 6th, Grant Park ParlorBrief Overview
I take Fukuyama seriously by comparing him to the philosopher Robert Pippin. Read with the help of Perry Anderson (his best critic) Fukuyama’s Hegelian reformulation of bourgeois liberalism is strikingly similar to Pippin’s more scholarly account.
