The Costs of War: World War 1 Fatalities and Demands for Redistribution in the U.K.

Brief Overview

This paper studies if WW1 fatalities created domestic demand for redistribution in the UK. With new data on 839,626 UK WW1 deaths, I find that greater fatalities are associated with higher left-wing vote share and MP support for redistribution.
