Performance in Public and Private Organizations: An International Comparison of Public Education

Brief Overview

Using education data from sixty-four countries, this study finds that core dimensions of publicness - ownership, funding, and control - are negatively related to performance, where greater autonomy may mitigate these predicted performance effects.
