Leaders' Tenure, Domestic Political Costs and IMF Programs in Developing Countries

Brief Overview

I examine how leaders' tenure affects their decision to participate in IMF programs, given the associated domestic political costs. I argue that the high costs of IMF programs are not consistent but change over the course of leaders’ tenure.
