The Betweenniks: coups, coup proofing, and autocratic elite networks

Brief Overview

In this paper, I present a novel network theory of coups and provide a preliminary empirical test. As I predict, I find that Russian governor's network position predicts their probability of promotion and suppression (assassination and prosecution).
