Compulsory Voting Weakens the Effects of the Economic Vote

Brief Overview

Economic voting considers the impacts of political institutions on vote choice, but one feature, compulsory voting, generates effects prior to the decision making. Using three analyses, I find evidence compulsory voting diminishes economic voting.
