Participatory institutions and perceptions of state legitimacy: evidence from a survey experiments in Uzbekistan

Brief Overview

My study tests participatory budgeting in Uzbekistan using a survey (n=1,975) and 50+ interviews. PB is popular but shows no measurable effect on attitudes toward the state; qualitative evidence suggests early legitimacy gains fade as PB routinizes.
