Political Corruption and Voter Turnout: The Effects of Perception, Experience, and Purchases

Brief Overview

Using village-level data in China, I examine how corruption perception, experience, and electoral corruption affect turnout. I find that corruption perceptions lower turnout via reduced trust, while electoral corruption raises turnout by vote buying.
