Offensive Advantage and War: A Structural Approach

Brief Overview

I present a model that shows the probability of war is minimized when the offense-defense balance equalizes states’ costs of fighting. I then structurally estimate values of the offense-defense balance and simulate counterfactual dispute outcomes.
