This qualitative study examines how 10 Black undergraduate engineering majors spent their summer months. Drawing upon Pierre Bourdieu’s capital framework, the authors argue that the summer presents an opportunity for engineering students to accrue engineering career capital that can be translated into positive educational outcomes and postsecondary career employment.
