Members of a university’s Tutoring Grant Partnership will share the positive impacts the tutoring program has made on behalf of the university, the community, and the local school district over the last two academic years. Discussion will include the collaborative successes in family engagement, teacher preparation, student progress, and literacy instruction. The presentation will highlight the importance of the tutoring partnership in regards to the increase in student literacy. Data of student progress will be shared along with talking points for starting similar partnerships.
For this session, presenters will share their experiences and collected data of the design, implementation, and sustainability of an after-school tutoring program that extends literacy instruction to elementary students. The presenters are various members of the collaborative tutoring partnership, representing both the university and school district. The session will include how collaboration between the university and the school district impacted various strands of the partnership, including community engagement and pre-service teacher education.
The structure of the session will be divided into quadrants to describe how family engagement, literacy instruction, teacher preparation, and student progress have improved during the tutoring collaboration between the university and the school district. Each presenter will focus on one of the quadrants.
Additional information regarding the grant process and the successful collaborative efforts between the university and the school district will be included in the presentation. The session will conclude with a focus on potential sustainability efforts for the after-school tutoring program. Presenters will also invite questions and feedback from the attendees.
