Fri, October 18, 8:00 to 9:10am, The Graduate Hotel and Conference Center, Leonard Baehr

Abstract

The purpose of this research-in-progress study is to investigate how graduate international students' sense of community is influenced by sharing their cultures in an undergraduate cultural perspectives course and how this impacts the undergraduates' understanding of cultural diversity. International students play a crucial role in enhancing the cultural diversity of American colleges and universities. It's essential for university staff to engage and integrate international students into the campus community actively. The literature is used to review international students' beliefs about the community on American college campuses. The researcher describes a mixed methods approach to studying the impact of international graduate students speaking to an undergraduate Cultural Perspectives course.
