Exploration of the Psychometric Properties of Data Collected from the mySAEBRS within an Adolescent Sample

Thu, October 17, 5:40 to 7:00pm, The Graduate Hotel and Conference Center, Joseph Strauss

Abstract

The present study sought to extend the literature base examining the technical adequacy of data derived from the use of the mySAEBRS, a social-emotional/behavior screener, with an adolescent sample. The following research questions were answered. What is the test-retest reliability of all four scores obtained from mySAEBRS ratings of an adolescent sample? What is the relationship between mySAEBRS ratings obtained in October and February and the Total, Math, Verbal, Reading, and Writing scores of the Scholastic Assessment Test? Finally, what is the relationship between mySAEBRS ratings and the respective total minor and major office discipline referrals and number of out of school suspensions? Pearson’s r and paired samples t-tests were conducted to determine the test-retest reliability for the two ratings. Pearson’s r was also used to calculate the study’s predictive validity coefficients. Test-retest reliability results indicated temporal stability. The predictive validity of the mySAEBRS data showed promising but variable results.
