Re-connecting learners to nature is a key theme in environmental education and includes human-animal relationships. We researched Māori traditions and ethical concepts relevant to animals using literature and examples from six expert interviews. Based on this research, we are developing classroom resources about animal ethics for learners aged 10-18 years.
