Community-Driven Education: Learning Alongside Classroom and Preservice Teachers

Summary

Classroom and pre-service teachers are rarely engaged in the development of outdoor education curriculum. The Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center’s (CVEEC) learning exchange with teachers informed their multi-disciplinary environmental education curriculum. The exchange made the curriculum more accessible, inclusive, and equitable, while layering nature education into the identity of the participants.
