Summary

Why do residents of Molepolole, Botswana engage in environmentally harmful waste disposal methods despite numerous laws governing waste disposal? We use socio-ecological systems framework to explain residents' reasons for engaging in environmentally harmful practices. Establishing these reasons paves a way for suggesting strategies to close the gap between policy and practice.
