Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
In critiquing mass media, religious and secular scholars alike seek to challenge the mainstream, offering a transformative vision of the future. In other words, they seek to cultivate the practice of prophetic witness. The idea of the prophetic is a central element in religious thought, and may be employed from a confessional perspective. But it also provides common ground for religious and secular critiques of media, cutting across the lines of faith, intellect, and ethics.
