An Exploration of College Instructors’ Perceptions of Classroom Justice, Power, and Behavior Alteration Techniques

Thu, November 12, 2:00 to 3:15pm, Hilton Chicago, Floor: Third Floor, PDR 2

Abstract

When students perceive instructors lack concerns about justice, they report negative outcomes. Due to the importance of justice to students, this study sought to understand how instructors view justice. Results indicated that instructors view interactional justice as the most important fairness component. Their power and antisocial BAT use plays a role in fairness judgments, accounting for a significant variance in procedural and interactional justice. Power and BATs use played little role in distributive justice concerns.
