This study compares the structures of the global trademark and patent network. Network analysis suggests that both the trademark and patent network have been decentralized although they indicate that there are asymmetric flows of technology and capital between core countries and peripheral countries. Also, the results suggest that the global trademarks network, which indicate global commercialization, shows more equality in network ties and is more dynamic than the global patent network, which indicate global technology transfer.
