This paper will consider the ideological struggle within evangelicalism over the issue of climate change. Selected texts from progressives and conservatives will be contrasted through a theoretical framework constructed from perspectives on prophetic rhetoric. The progressive text is consistent with the elements of prophetic rhetoric, while the conservative text fails to successfully construct a prophetic voice. Ultimately, the antagonism represented by climate change indicates a larger political shift occurring within evangelicalism.
