This paper examines co-participant representations of daily life in Glendale, Utah, particularly performances of difference and cultural hegemony in response to diaspora flows in this gateway community on the western edge of Salt Lake City. More specifically it develops understandings about the conjuncture of 1) cultural differences 2) identity vulnerability and 3) politically charged neighborhood spaces that involve the destabilization of white middle class norms and sense of place in the social imaginary.
