Friendly Fire: Lita Hornick, Women’s Anger and Editorial Power in 1960’s Little Magazines

Abstract

This paper seeks to recover Lita Hornick as Kulchur magazine's primary voice for most of its 20-issue run. In this recovery process, I hope to reclaim some of the power that women who work in artistic mediums, such as literary magazines, lose when the power to name their work is taken from them by a patriarchal culture that tries to define the influence of their works and their messages.
