This essay focuses on the intersection of globalization with water provision in four different countries where corporate norms and capitalist modes of production are significantly influencing governmental roles in water provision policies, structures and management practices. A comparative analysis of these countriesÂ’ diverse engagement with water privatization practices reveals that in each case, these changes in water provision have been far less profitable than imagined and met with resistance from water users on the ground.
